Enduro MTB Format FAQ
New to enduro racing? Great! We are stoked to bring this new format of mountain bike racing to Ontario. We love seeing new enduro racers at The Ganny Enduro every year.
Below is some info on how staged enduro racing works.

Enduro Timing
How We Time The Ganny Enduro
RFID Timing
We use a RFID timing system for live results throughout the race.
Volunteer Timers
There will be volunteers monitoring the timing at the top and bottom of the stage. They'll be ready to make your race day experience awesome!
Live Results At The Finish
Compare your results to your friends right at the finish line when the day is done!
How An Enduro Race Works

We Race Individual Stages, Not The Whole Course: There will be 3–6 timed (mostly) downhill stages you will be timed on.
You Will Have Transfers Between These Stages:
Races will ride at their own pace between stages; these are not timed so enjoy yourself and rest up between the next stage!

Enduro Timing Format: Only the downhill stages are timed; the fastest combined time wins.
How Enduro Segments Work

Enduro Stage Start Intervals: When a rider arrives at the beginning of our enduro segments, they will wait in line for timing of their segment by a volunteer. Riders start stages individually at set intervals, typically 30 seconds to a minute apart. You will tap your timing chip at the beginning of the stage and the end to get your time for it.

Enduro Segment Trail Conditions: The Enduro segments will vary on trail conditions and types of trail. For the Ganny Enduro, most of our trails in The Millbrook Valley Trails are flowy, have rock gardens, jumps or require a bit of pedaling. But they are mostly downhill and allow for a lot of speed to be gained. For any "features" there will be a go around or B-Line. Please adhere to all trail conditions and any hazards on the trail when riding.

Race Results From A Timed Enduro Race: Racers results are based off of the combined total time of all individual race segments(3 or 6 depending on short or full course). Your time when riding between stages does not count to your overall time. At the end of the day you will come back to the fairgrounds and we'll provide you with a print out of your times to compare with your friends!

Tips For New Enduro Racers

Pace Yourself Between Stages: Your transfers between stages will include a decent amount of climbing(earn those turns!). Pace yourself on these climbs and dont tire yourself out too much as you will be on course for potentially 3-4 hours. Remember, you are not timed on these; save the energy for your timed segments!

Pre-Ride If Possible: Knowing the course helps with confidence and speed when you are racing segments that are downhill. This will also allow you to practice any jumps or booters you may want to hit on race day.

Know Your Limit, Ride Within It: Ride within your limits—finishing is better than crashing out. The segments are not very long in the Ganny Enduro so one crash or moment of hesitation is costly. Better to ride at a manageable pace and have a consistent time.

Bring Plenty Of Snacks and Hydration: This is a "self supported" enduro. This means that you are expected to have the nutrition, hydration and mechanical means you need on yourself to complete the course you have chosen. There will be a generously stocked feedzone on course along with a neutral service van from Shimano Canada on course but these are only in one spot and should not be relied upon entirely.

Take A Pic Or Two On Course: The beauty of an enduro race is you get to socialize with your friends and fellow racers between stages and while waiting for your time to race. Have fun out there and take some pics to remember the day. And don't forget to tag us on Instagram!
